11th Year in a Row, Lady Ducks Shine at Nationals

The Lady Ducks program have had teams representing the Pacific District almost every year of our existence.  But Since 2004, we have been fortunate (and hardworking enough) to get there every year, culminating growth, development and compete level in our program. This year was no exception!

In mid-March our 12aaa team earned an invite to the 12u National Invitational Tournament in Concord, MA by ranking in the top 12 nationally.  Not only did these young players compete hard, but as the 11th seed, they took their opponents to the brink upsetting higher ranked teams to earn a Semi-Final slot!  Although they were defeated 1-0 in the semi, their 3rd place finish was both remarkable and demonstration of the strong future of Lady Ducks Hockey!

The 14AAA, 19AAA and women's B team moved on this year to the National Championships in Blaine, Minnesota.  The competition was fierce for these older teams, getting draws against the top 6 in the country (and facing 2 18u National team goalies!).  Both girls' teams showed their compete level and perseverance in winning games against higher ranked teams. It was very powerful listening to college coaches as they remarked about their LD recruits "looking fantastic" and "feeling like they were the best scout ever by recruiting her".  It was a proud moment watching our seniors in tears after their final LD game after 7 or 8 years in our program. Congratulations to you all and best wishes as you move on to a new chapter in your careers!

The Lady Ducks have always focused on building Great Strong young women... more than just hockey players.  As the National Tournament wound down USA officials came up to me, Caroline and some parents and were amazed at our Program's camaraderie!  It was noted by more than a few people that our Teams came out to cheer and support each other, as big sisters and little sisters, INCLUDING our women's team who showed up to girls' games to cheer our LD teams on!  This is what its all about...doing something bigger than yourself!  As each Lady Duck competes to be their individual very best, they also work for the TEAM; and root for others in competition; and in a large part, those experiences lead to what we will encounter as adults.

It has been no less than a privilege to be in the midst of some fantastic kids, families and watch this fantastic sport grow in California, as the Lady Ducks have over the last 15 years.

Thank you,
LD Family!

12U take 3rd at 12u National Invitational!

Congratulations to the 12AAA team as this group of little stars outworked and outplayed their 11th seed position in the tournament, upsetting MASS Spitfire and East Coast Wizards on their way to a Semi-Final Finish on the weekend.

It is a great sign of things to come with each of you young ladies!
